PRIVACY NOTICE
Clear about what
we collect and why.
Last updated 11 October 2026. This notice covers the Fabrication Intelligence website, the shop and its orders, contact messages, support and bug reports, team applications, quote requests and client or manufacturer accounts.
What we collect
When you submit a request, we may collect your name, email, company, project details, product requirements, timing, destination and an optional drawing. Account users also provide login details and a client or manufacturer profile. Manufacturer applicants may provide company capabilities, certifications and website information. Product order requests also include recipient and billing details, delivery address, phone, selected products, quantities and acceptance of the order process. When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email, message and any product you mention. We also collect your buyer, supplier or team applicant choice. Team applications include your selected position and any CV or portfolio link, experience, location or availability you choose to share.
Why we use it
We use this information to respond to buyer and supplier enquiries, confirm product quotes, manage orders, warehouse inspection, delivery and support, operate accounts, review manufacturer and team applications, and protect private files. We review team application information to discuss a suitable role with you.
Where it is stored
Website source code is stored in GitHub and the website is hosted through Vercel and GitHub Pages. Personal account and request data is stored in Supabase, not in the public source repository. Account, request and private upload data is handled through Supabase. New contact notes and team applications are stored privately in Supabase for the approved FI admin inbox. Short-lived daily request hashes help limit automated submissions. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth and are not visible to the Fabrication Intelligence team. Private drawings and supplier files are not public. When you submit a quote request or the feedback form, or send a message through the contact form, the details (but not any drawing) are also emailed to the FI team through FormSubmit so we can reply quickly.
Who can access it
Approved FI team accounts can access quote requests and files needed to operate the service. Clients can access only requests linked to their own signed-in account. Manufacturer applicants can access only their own application; approval status is controlled separately by FI. Approved supplier workspaces remain invitation-only. Suppliers see only their assigned products, warehouse purchase orders, inspection outcomes and product-specific return cases, without customer addresses or payment identifiers. Full sales and enquiry dashboards are restricted to approved FI admin accounts.
Payments and marketing
A product can only be bought online once we mark it live in the shop. When you buy one, checkout happens on Shopify’s or Stripe’s own pages and your card details go to them, not to us. We receive your order details, such as your name, email and delivery address, so we can fulfil the order. For the warehouse order service, FI stores provider payment references, amounts, refunds and disputes, supplier source links, purchase instructions, inspection evidence and both shipment legs. Card numbers and CVCs are not stored by FI. Delivery details are shared with the warehouse and delivery carrier when needed; suppliers receive the FI warehouse destination. Checkout for this service stays disabled until activated by FI. We do not sell your personal information. We do not add you to marketing messages merely because you submitted a request or placed an order.
Shop orders and suppliers
When you buy with the Buy button, checkout runs on Shopify, and payment is handled by Shopify’s payment provider. We receive your name, email, delivery address, phone number if you give one, the items you bought and the discount code you used. To get your order to you, we pass your name, delivery address, phone number and the items ordered to the supplier and its delivery carriers. We do this through an ordering tool that sends orders to suppliers for us. We do not give suppliers your email address unless the carrier needs it, and we never give them payment details.
Overseas disclosure. Our suppliers and their carriers are mainly in China, and your delivery details are sent there so your parcel can be delivered. Overseas suppliers and carriers are not bound by Australian privacy law, but we only send what is needed to deliver your order. By placing an order you agree to this. If you do not, please do not order. Shopify and its payment provider also process data in other countries under their own privacy terms.
Trade code requests include your business name and ABN, which we use only to check you are a business and send your code.
Service logs
Separately from analytics, the website sends a few fixed events to our logging service (Axiom) so we can find errors and see which pages are used: a page view, a website error, a checkout button click and a bug report being sent. Each event contains only the page path and, for errors, a short error message with web addresses and email addresses removed. It does not contain your IP address, browser details, name, email, form contents or anything from sign-in, account, order or admin pages, and it uses no cookies. It is not sent if your browser has Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track turned on. This logging only starts once we set it up; until then no logs are sent.
Support emails and bug reports
If you email us, use the contact form, send feedback or file a bug report, we keep what you send, and your email address if you give one, so we can reply and fix the problem. Bug reports can include your browser and screen size if you leave that box ticked. Contact, feedback and bug report messages are emailed to the team through FormSubmit.
AI tools
We use AI tools to help run the business, for example to draft replies and keep track of orders. These tools can see order details such as your name and delivery address when we are fixing a problem with your order. We do not put payment card details, passwords or identity documents into them. Calendar entries, inbox contents and supplier conversations are private to the team. See AI at FI.
Keeping information safe
Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it, and passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and are not visible to us. No online service is perfectly secure. If we learn of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the privacy regulator where the law requires us to.
Retention and your choices
We keep account, order, enquiry and team application records only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, operate the service and review an application. To ask for a copy of your information, or for correction or deletion, email support@fabricationintelligence.com. Some records may need to be retained where required by law or legitimate project administration.
Optional website analytics
Google Analytics is being prepared and is not yet active. (This is separate from the service logs above.) When enabled, it will run only on public pages after you choose Allow analytics. It uses cookies to measure page visits, approved clicks and successful enquiries. We do not send form contents, names, email addresses, customer IDs, payment details, URL query strings or account and order pages through this integration. Google still processes technical data, including device/browser information and network information, to provide analytics.
Analytics consent is stored in this browser, and analytics cookies are set with a 90-day expiry. You can decline without losing access to forms or accounts. Once analytics is enabled, use Analytics choices in the footer to change your decision. Declining stops new tracking and clears this site's analytics cookies; it does not automatically delete data already sent to Google. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Message experiments are deferred; any future experiment labels will describe the message shown, not identify you.
Public product reviews
If you submit a review, your chosen display name, rating, title, text and review dates are public. We privately link it to your own delivered purchase to verify eligibility. Your email, user identifier, order reference, payment data and delivery address are not part of the public review. Avoid private details in your review. You can edit your review from the review page; contact FI about privacy or removal requests.
Complaints and updates
If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, email us and we will review it. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. FI is a student-led store. Material changes to how we use your information will be reflected on this page, with the date at the top.
