Nothing on this page takes away rights or remedies that the law gives you. An inspection, supplier warranty or account closure does not replace those rights.
1. About these terms
Fabrication Intelligence (FI, we, us) is a student-led store selling renovation hardware sourced from manufacturers overseas. These terms explain use of our website and accounts, and the two ways to order: shop orders (the Buy button) and quoted orders (larger or custom jobs). Both pass through our warehouse for inspection before onward delivery. You can contact the FI team at support@fabricationintelligence.com.
A product listing, enquiry or account does not itself create a purchase. Before taking payment, we identify the seller and confirm the product, price, delivery scope and applicable order terms. Features described on this website may be in preparation; a description of a feature does not mean it is available to use.
2. Your account
Give us accurate contact details and keep them current. Use an email address you control, protect your login and tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. To place an order, you must be legally able to enter the agreement and authorised to act for any business you represent.
Manufacturer registration is an application for review, not automatic approval, certification or access to another customer's information.
3. Acceptable use
Do not use the website to submit fraudulent requests, impersonate someone, upload unlawful material, infringe another person's rights, attempt to access private records or interfere with the service. Only send drawings, photographs, links and other material you are entitled to share.
We may restrict activity that threatens the website or other users. Any restriction must be proportionate to the issue and does not remove our responsibilities for an existing order.
4. Product information & AI
Listings may draw on supplier information, reference documents and AI-assisted drafting. Illustrations or generated images are not inspection photographs or proof of a product's condition. Where an image is illustrative, it should be labelled accordingly. Ask us about any unclear specification before ordering.
FI research notes describe the checks and evidence stated with them. The FI Score and rankings are paused while we run the shop, and older research pages are kept for reference only. Customer star ratings are separate reviews of actual purchases. They are not building approvals or independent product certification. Project-specific engineering, installation and regulatory requirements need the appropriate qualified assessment. This does not remove our responsibility for the descriptions and representations we make.
5. Quotes & pricing
For the warehouse order service, we confirm the supplier variant, quantity, availability, delivery address and quote validity before payment. A request for a quote is free of any commitment to buy unless a separate paid service has first been agreed.
The amount presented for payment is in Australian dollars (AUD). Your approved total includes the source price converted to AUD, FI's 10% markup on that source price, and the agreed freight, inspection, duties, applicable taxes and payment-cost allowance for the stated delivery scope. These costs are combined into one inclusive total. A supplier's advertised price is not a delivered FI quote.
If your requirements change or a quote expires, we confirm a replacement quote before you commit. We do not add an unapproved charge or substitute a different product after you pay.
6. Orders & payments
Shop orders. When you press Buy, you pay on Shopify’s secure checkout. FI is the seller. The price shown on the product is the price you pay in Australian dollars, plus delivery of A$11 on orders under A$100, shown before you pay. Your order is accepted when you receive our order confirmation email. We then place it with the supplier. If an item turns out to be unavailable, or a price was clearly wrong because of a mistake, we will tell you and refund you in full before dispatch, or offer an alternative you can accept or decline.
Discount codes. A code has the conditions stated with it, such as dates, a limit on the number of orders and one use per customer. One code applies per order. A code has no cash value and is not refunded after the order is placed. FOUNDING10 gives 10% off the first 20 orders until 31 October 2026.
Check your product selection, delivery details and total before paying. Payment is available only where checkout has been activated. Shop orders use Shopify’s hosted checkout. The quoted warehouse order service uses Stripe-hosted checkout when enabled. The seller and terms shown for the particular order must be clear before payment.
FI stores payment references and order status, not your full card number or security code. A checkout return page is not, by itself, a receipt. We verify payment with the provider before releasing an order for supplier purchasing.
A product order does not authorise recurring charges. If an agreed product cannot be supplied, we contact you about an acceptable alternative or the refund due; we do not automatically purchase a replacement without agreement.
7. Inspection & delivery
Shop orders arrive at FI’s warehouse from our suppliers. We inspect and pack the products before forwarding them to the address you enter at checkout. Timing includes supplier transit, inspection and onward shipping. We share the available delivery estimate and onward tracking for your order. Delays caused by carriers, customs or other events outside our reasonable control do not remove your consumer rights, but we are not responsible for loss they cause to the extent the law allows. You must give an accurate and complete delivery address. We are not responsible for a parcel sent to an address you entered incorrectly, but we will help you try to recover it.
Quoted warehouse orders work as follows.
For a warehouse order, the supplier sends the product to FI's receiving warehouse first. We check the agreed product, dimensions, finish, function and packaging, record the result, and dispatch to you only after the order passes inspection. A failed check puts dispatch on hold while the issue is resolved.
Inspection reduces the risk of defects. It cannot detect every hidden defect and is not a guarantee of a 100% defect-free product. It does not replace any applicable consumer guarantee.
The quote sets out the delivery destination and scope. Dates are estimates unless expressly agreed otherwise. We will communicate material delays and discuss available options. Contact us promptly if your address changes or a parcel is missing or damaged, so we can investigate with the carrier.
8. Cancellations, faults & returns
Email your order reference and a description of the problem to the FI team. Photos can help us assess it, but missing photos or original packaging do not automatically remove a right to a remedy. Contact FI first for return instructions; do not send goods to the supplier address from a source link.
Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, a major product failure generally lets you choose a refund or replacement. For a minor failure, the business normally has an opportunity to fix the problem within a reasonable time. Other remedies may apply, including compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss. See the ACCC's repair, replacement and refund guidance.
Reasonable return costs for confirmed faulty goods are handled in line with applicable law. We do not impose a blanket "no refunds" rule or an arbitrary reporting deadline that removes statutory rights.
If you change your mind or want to cancel a quoted order, contact us before procurement if possible. For shop orders, email us as soon as you can: if we have not yet placed your order with the supplier we cancel it and refund you, but once the supplier has dispatched the parcel we cannot recall it, so we do not offer change-of-mind returns on shop orders. This does not affect your rights for faulty, unsafe or wrongly described goods. Any voluntary cancellation or change-of-mind arrangements, including any agreed costs for custom work, must be explained before you buy. They cannot reduce a remedy you are legally entitled to.
9. Privacy & your information
Our privacy notice explains the information we collect, why we use it, service providers, access controls and how to request access, correction or deletion. Order information may include your contact and delivery details, product choices, payment references and shipping records.
For warehouse orders, supplier instructions use the FI receiving address. Delivery details are shared with the warehouse and carrier as needed to get the order to you. Do not put passwords or payment-card details into contact forms or uploaded files.
10. Content & ownership
You keep your rights in the material you submit. You allow FI and the providers needed to carry out your request to store, review and share it for that purpose. Submitting a private drawing does not give us permission to publish it as advertising.
Website designs, text, photographs and supplier materials remain subject to their owners' rights. A source link or an AI-assisted edit does not establish permission to reuse a photograph, trademark or design. To report a suspected infringement, send us the page address, a description of the material and your contact details.
11. Third-party services
We use external services to host the website, operate accounts, process payments and arrange delivery. We use Shopify to run the shop checkout and an ordering tool to pass orders to suppliers, and the supplier and its carriers deliver your parcel. Links to supplier pages help identify a source; they do not make you responsible for buying from that supplier when you place a warehouse order with FI.
External websites have their own terms and privacy practices. Using a supplier, payment provider or carrier does not remove FI's own obligations for the service or product it supplies.
12. Your rights & our responsibility
Australian consumer protections apply where required by law, including guarantees about product quality, descriptions and services. These terms do not exclude those protections or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. More information is available in the ACCC's consumer guarantees guide.
Website availability can be interrupted for maintenance or faults. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and nothing in them limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a website issue affects an existing order, contact us so that it can be handled directly. Pilot status and the use of AI do not excuse misleading information or remove legal responsibilities.
13. Account closure & disputes
You can stop using the website or ask us to close your account. We may restrict access to address fraud, security incidents or serious misuse, explaining the reason when it is reasonable and safe to do so. Closure does not cancel an outstanding order, erase a refund entitlement or require deletion of records that must legally be kept.
If something goes wrong, contact us with the relevant order or request reference and the outcome you are seeking. We will review the issue and respond. You remain free to seek help from your consumer protection authority or an appropriate court or tribunal. These terms do not force you into private arbitration or waive your legal rights.
14. Changes & contact
We may update this page as the service develops and will identify the update date. Material changes will be brought to users' attention through an appropriate notice. An update does not retrospectively change an accepted order without agreement or override applicable law. Keep a copy of the terms and quote supplied with your order.
Questions about these terms, a return or your information can be sent to support@fabricationintelligence.com, or through our contact page.
Customer reviews
Reviews require the reviewer’s own real paid FI order, recorded as delivered. Customers consent to publish their display name and review text. Account, order, address and payment details are not published. Genuine positive and negative experiences receive equal treatment. Customers may edit their own review; FI does not rewrite it. Read the review policy for prohibited content and reporting concerns.
